━━━━ ❛ sometimes
being brave is stupid.❜
volume 1 , season 6
› LEAVE IT TO DEAN TO TRY avoiding his problems, only for the universe to slap him across the face with it. In this case, it was going back to Lisa's and talking to Olive. Instead, she was in front of him, a backpack and a bashful smile on her face. Still, Dean tried to stay firm, his hand on his waist as he glared between the six year old and the Angel beside her.
"What the hell, Cas?!" Dean bellowed, motioning between them, both holding the same blank expression, "You can't just pluck Olive out the house without a warning!"
The duo glanced at each other, silently agreeing not to tell Dean about their runaway situation until later.
"If you want me to help Sam, then I'm going to need her help." Cas defends, taking off his belt. "If not this will be unpleasant."
Sam pushes back against the rope for distance, "Wha━? Uh━."
"Bite down on this." Cas doesn't give Sam the option, he just shoves it into his mouth and rolls up his own sleeves.
Olive turns to Dean, "Dad━"
"One this is done, you're going back to Lisa's." Dean firms, walking around the table to lean on the kitchenette.
Olive goes to follow, "But━?"
"Olive, grab his head." Castiel commands.
She groans, running back "Sorry," She dismissed, not sounding really sorry as she stood on her tippy-toes and put her hands on the sides of his head, "Ready."
"If there's some place that you find soothing, you should go there in your mind." Cas says to him lightly, he then turns to Olive, "If you can't hold it, let me know."
She furrows her brows, opening her mouth to question what he meant but he had already plunged his hand into Sam's chest. The hunter starts to shake, and Olive now understood what he meant.
She could sense where Cas's hand scans and grabs for something that isn't there. She pushes her power towards it, building around Castiel's energy a stone wall.
Sam stops thrashing, and his breathing shakes softly with discomfort as Olive wrapped around the place his soul was meant to be, stopping Cas from ripping apart the home his soul was meant to be, as he continued to search for it.
Her eyes were closed in concentration, but Dean pushes off the counter in worry, chewing up the distance between them with large strides. He hovers behind her, ready to pull her away.
"Cas. . ." Olive falters, following his movements, "It's gone, isn't it?"
"What's gone?" Dean pressed, "You find anything?" She shakes her head, "So, that's good news?"
"I'm afraid not." Cas sighs.
"It's a biiiig problem," Olive drags, extending her arms as wide as she could.
Cas nods in agreement. "Physically, he's perfectly healthy."
"Then what is it?" Dean orders, hating that he was the only person that didn't understand what was going on.
"It's his soul, daddy." Olive states, glancing at Sam. "It's not there no more."
The three look to Sam who, since he's come back, showed genuine concern. Olive stood by Cas as Dean continued to pace around the Motel room.
"Ha. Um, I'm sorry," Dean runs a hand down his face, "One more time, like I'm five. What do you mean he's got no━?"
"When Sam was resurrected. .it was without his soul." Castiel explained carefully.
"When I met him for the first time." Olive pipes in, deep in her little thoughts. "His color wasn't there, I couldn't see it."
She didn't know what it meant until she started training with Toula.
Dean sighs, "So where is it?"
"My guess is it's still in the cage with Michael and Lucifer." He explains.
"So is he even still Sam?"
"Well, you pose an interesting philosophical question." Cas looks back to Sam.
"I don't think dinosaurs can help," Olive tells the Angel seriously.
"That's not what that word means," Sam corrects her, "Where did you even get that from━"
"So, we get it back." Dean nods simply.
Cas gives him a look, "Dean."
"Well you pulled me out."
"It took several angels to rescue you and you weren't nearly as well-guarded." He explains. "Sam's soul is in Lucifer's cage. There's a difference. A big difference. It's not possible."
Dean scoffs. "There's gotta be a way." Cas hesitates. "What? What is it?" He pressed.
The Angel glances at Olive, who looked between the two. "Guardians created souls, back then you would be able to go to them with this type of issue but considering Olive is the last of her kind..." He trails off.
"But she could do it?" Dean thinks. Her eyes widened at the suggestion.
Cas shakes his head. "
Olive is strong but she's also a child. Creating a soul takes a lot of energy and power. .Olive could die."
Olive panics. "I don't wanna die."
Dean backtracks, thinking of Lisa's words. He didn't want to be the reason Olive dies, he couldn't, "There has to be another way." He repeats.
"That would have been the only option." Cas sighs.
"Well in that case you can take Olive home." Dean turns his back.
She crosses her arms, "I'm not leaving."
"This is the worst time for you to be here right now." Dean states slowly.
"I can help," She pressed.
Dean frowns, "Didn't you hear Cas? You'll die. I can't have that━"
"But I can help in other ways! I just want to be here!" She insists.
"It's dangerous, Olive. Lisa's right, you're better off there."
Olive tugs at her hair, her face twisting as she felt overwhelmingly big emotions. She wanted to kick and scream because he wasn't listening to her. The lights flicker above them, and Castiel looks up with a set frown.
He was glad Balthazar gave her that charm, because every Angel in the area would appear with even her smallest outbursts.
"Listen to me!" Olive heaves, the lightbulb popping. Dean closes his mouth, "I've been practicing how to use my powers so you can come get me! I've practiced and you still won't stay? Just stay! Why can't you just stay dad?! I practiced. . ."
Dean looks down at his shoes, then back up at her. But she's not there, instead he's looking back at himself. He's a little boy again, tears in his eyes, begging his dad to take him on hunts. Not to leave him alone with Sam.
"It's a risk," Dean tells her, kneeling in front of her.
"Everything is a risk," Cas pipes in. Dean's eyes narrow at him, and the Angel looks up as if he had never spoken.
"Everythings a risk!" Olive repeats with a firm nod, as if she had come up with the response herself.
Sam leans forward, "So are you gonna untie me?" He chimes in.
"No." Dean says instantly, not glancing in his direction.
"Listen, I'm not gonna━"
"Sam, how am I supposed to let you out of this room?" He stalks forward.
"Dean, I'm not a psycho." Sam states. "I didn't want you to get hurt. I was just trying to stop the vamps. I'm sorry. It won't ever happen again. Please let me go."
"You're kidding, right?" He says lowly. "I almost killed Lisa and the kids."
Olive's eyes widened, "Um, what?"
"What you gonna do, keep me locked up forever?" Sam scoffs.
"You say that like it's a bad thing." Dean hums.
"Okay, fine." Sam sighs. "Look, I get it. I get it, Dean. I was wrong. But I'm telling you, I'm trying to get right. It's still me."
"Is it?"
"Yes." He says firmly. "So just let me go."
Sam's pleads never made Dean waver, he still looked absolute pissed. "No way in hell."
"I didn't want it to come to this." Sam sighs. Sam stands up, having untied the ropes a while ago. "You're not going to hold me. Not here, not in a panic room, not anywhere." He says. "You're stuck with the soulless guy so you might as well work with me. Let's fix this."
"I'm gonna be watching every move you make." Dean vowed.
"Fine. Sounds about right to me." He agrees.
"That goes for you too," He turns to Olive, "You stick to me like white on rice. I need you in my eye sight at all times, okay?"
Olive jumps in excitment, waving her hands, "Sir, yes, sir!"
The hunter winced, "You can still call me dad, O."
"Dad, yes, dad!"
Dean stares at her for a moment, then blinks away. "Cas, clean him up."
Cas steps forward and places his two fingers on Sam's forward, who is instantly cleared from the blood and wounds on his body. Olive's eyes widened, never seeing Castiel do that before.
"Do you think you can heal the rash on my leg?" She whispers to him. Cas smiles softly and places his fingers on her forehead, walking back over to Dean as she inspected her now cleared leg.
"So, now we gonna figure out what happened. We need to find who knicked you out. You say you don't know?"
"No idea." Sam nods.
"Then we start a list. If it's so hard to spring someone out, who's got that kind of muscle?"
"I don't know." Castiel then looks at Sam. "You have no memory of your resurrection?"
Sam shakes his head. "I woke up in a field. That's all I got."
"No clues? None?"
He thinks for a moment. "I've got one." Sam admits.

› THE LAST THING HE EVER WANTED was for Olive to meet his mother's side of the family. The Campbell's were a long line of family hunters, and his grandfather looked like the kind of guy that would kill someone like Olive on sight.
Not that Dean was opposed to killing every last one of his family members if they tried to put a hurt his daughter. And from the looks of it, Sam was also on that list.
So, he stayed on edge as they drove down to their hunting base. He was uneasy, his hand always inches from his gun as he kept eyes on Olive in the backseat.
Olive was prepared for the worst. She's never met another hunter outside of Bobby Singer, but even he was slightly paranoid around her. Hunters, always scared of the unexplainable.
She didn't blame him. She was just as cautious of them.
When they walked into the base, Olive couldn't help but gulp at the amount of people who were sharpening weapons and making salt bullets like clock work.
Her loud action must have made Dean tense, because he instantly grabs her hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze, locking eyes with everyone as they walk through the room.
"Gramps throw a barbecue and leave us off the e-vite list?" Dean states. Olive sniffs the air, confused when she smells no cooked meat.
"Sam." A man greets, giving a chuckle and pulling the taller one into a hug. "Dean." He greeted not as enthusiastically before looking down at Olive, giving her a smile and crouching down. "Hello there." He waves, "You must be little Olive."
Something is off about him, and it makes her step back.
Dean shifts, "Hello, Newman. Where's the man?"
He looks away from Olive and stands back up, pointing behind him. Dean wastes no time to push past him, still holding Olive's hand as they made their way into Samuel's office. He was reading something when Dean burst into the room.
"Come on in then." Samuel sighs.
"Need to ask you a few questions."
Samuel glances at Olive before looking back at Dean. "What's wrong?"
"The day you got back, what happened?"
"We've been over this."
"Well, recap it for our wingman." Dean says derisively just as Castiel appears behind Samuel.
The old Hunter gave no reaction to his presence, simply looking him over unimpressed. "This Castiel?" When the angel nods, Samuel speaks. "You're scrawnier than I pictured."
"This is a vessel." He explains. "My true form is the size of your Chrysler Building."
"Is that right."
"Quit bragging." Dean dismisses. "So. You were dead, and--?"
"And, pow, I was on Elton Ridge. Don't know how, don't know why." Samuel states. "I've got nothing to hide guys."
Olive narrows her eyes slightly, looking from him to the draw that he shoved that paper into the second they stepped into the room. Olive goes to comment on that, but Dean was already moving on from the comment.
"Mind if Cas here double-checks?" He motions for Castiel.
The Angel rolls up his sleeve, walking over to a confused Samuel before plunging his hand into his chest without warning. Olive steps forward, but Dean softly pulls her back.
There was no need to help him feel less pain, Dean didn't care enough to. Christian rushes into the room seconds later, holding out his gun.
The brothers raises their hands in defense. "Whoa whoa whoa." They say at the same time.
"What the hell?"
"Cavity search." Dean explains.
Olive uses her tongue to touch the tips of her teeth. "I don't have any." She chimes.
"I'm fine, Christian, just give us a minute." Christian seemed reluctant but when Samuel repeats himself he instantly nods, closing the door behind him. "What the hell was that about?" Samuel breathes out.
"His soul is intact." Cas states.
"What? Of course I have a. ." Samuel looks to his youngest grandson, the only one he seemed to trust. "What's going on, Sam?"
"Whatever dragged me out left a piece behind." When Sam didn't get the reaction that he was expecting, he frowns. "Did you know?"
"No. No but I knew it was something." He admits. "You're a hell of a hunter, Sam, but the truth is. . .sometimes you scare me."
Castiel had left abruptly after checking Samuel's soul, not before awkwardly patting Olive's head when she ran up to give him a hug.
Not long after that, Dean had volunteered he and Olive to go on a hunt with Samuel to capture an Alpha Vampire. Olive wasn't as excited to go on the hunt, not only was she exhausted and impatient, she hadn't gotten the chance to really talk to Dean about what Lisa said, it was like he was purposely busying himself so he wouldn't have the conversation.
"The house is just over the hill. About a dozen vamps and the Alpha." Samuel explains. "We've got one shot at this son of a bitch."
Christian passes everyone a shotgun and machete. Olive lifts her hands up for one, but frowns when Christian passes over her and hands one to another hunter.
She frowns, examining the small pocket knife that he pulls out of his belt and hands over. She holds it up to Dean with a bewilderment expression, who just smirks.
"Christian, take flank. The rest of you are with me and Sam. Dean, Gwen, hang back, sweep any stragglers we flush out." Samuel orders. Dean seemed less than happy with his position. "Problem Dean?"
"No, sir." He grumbles.
Olive raises her hand. "Oh! Oh! What do I do?"
"You. Wait in the truck." Samuel dismissed.
She deflates. "Awe, darn."
"I'm in the rear with the rejects?" Gwen snaps.
Both Dean and Olive muster up the firmest bitch face towards Gwen as they glared. Samuel didn't feel the need to respond, and without another word he motions for the Hunter's to follow, leaving just the three of them.
"Don't worry," Sam comes up beside them. "It's fine."
"Oh, nothing is fine. You're not fine," He sighs, cutting himself off. "Go. Go."
After that was at least ten minutes of awkward silence as they three scouted the primater from the cars. Olive sat a little away from Dean on the hood of Samuel's truck as she levitated the open pocket knife on the tip of her finger.
"Sorry about the reject thing." Gwen sighed, giving Dean a small smile.
"Eh, I've been called worse." He dismissed.
"I just, uh, get sick of getting left behind." She admits.
"Me too." Olive mumbles.
The adults glace at her, making her redden at the sudden attention and shift away. Dean held a guilty expression that she couldn't seem to handle, while Gwen stared at the floating knife in amazement.
Olive swiftly snatches the knife from the air. "What? I have feelings too."
"Yeah well. It's probably because I remind him of his daughter or something." Gwen continues.
"Well, you do speak your mind." Dean agrees.
"I'll take that as a compliment." She smiled.
"Well, you should."
The sound of leafs crunching brings them all on high alert. Olive perks her head up, sliding off of the truck and flicks open the pocket knife, running towards Dean who holds up his machete.
The sound of snarling was only heard after a Vampire ran out of the trees and attacked Gwen, causing them both to tumble. Dean grabs at the Vamp, throwing it into the wall. It seemed to get the upperhand, sending him to the ground.
Olive was the only one standing, her arms stretched out, one hand in front of her chest and the other holding the knife out. With one swift movement she slashes the knife towards him, but he jumps back and causes her to tumble.
He then kicks her small frame on top of Dean, who groans at the impact. They watch as the vamps head was cut clean off by Gwen and her machete.
Olive rolls off of Dean seconds before the Vampire body crashes onto the Hunter, sending blood all over his face.
"You're welcome." Gwen grins smugly as Dean stands up and wipes his face with his sleeve. She turns to Olive, who was still on the ground. "Didn't expect you to hold your own." She extends her hand. Olive smiles, grabbing at it. "Good job, kid."
The moment was short lived when gunshots sounded from over the hillside. Olive's eyes widened, running towards the sound out of fear for Sam and the others. Dean let out multiple curse words as he followed behind her.
"We're supposed to wait here!" Gwen snaps at them.
Dean breathes out in relief when he spots Olive at the side gate, "Don't do that! What happened to the white on rice thing?!" He scolds, running up beside her. She said nothing, pulling at the gate.
They pause to look at the scattered bodies around the yard, Olive lets out a noise between a whimper and a grimace.
"Come on." Dean sighs, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze. "Let's go around."
There were more bodies at the entrance but no hunters on the outside. Olive and Dean walked side by side, weapons raised and paranoid frowns.
"I can't believe I'm letting you be here." He mumbles, mostly to himself. "Fighting that Vampire like that, you could've gotten hurt."
Olive sighed. "I couldn't spend another minute at Lisa's." She admits.
They turn another corner, into the yard. "Why? because you're allergic to staying out of trouble and being safe?" He argued.
"Because I belong in your world," She huffs, "Something extraordinary can't live as ordinary." She quotes Toula, smiling to herself. A frown form on her face when she remembered the conversation that came after that.
"Dean!" A hunter from Samuel's group bangs on the glass, causing them to turn just in time to see her get pulled back. She lets out a blood curling scream before splats of blood hits the window.
Olive's eyes widen at the sight, both of them backing up from the window.
They heard Samuel but he wasn't in the house, he wasn't anywhere near it. Olive frowns, why would Samuel leave without all of his people? Did he really leave some there to die?
Dean runs forward and Olive grabs the back of his jacket last minute, running with him and making sure she didn't trip. They poke their heads behind a shed, Olive at the bottom and Dean above as they swept the scene.
Samuel was loading what they presumed to be an Alpha vampire, inside of the van. Sam was also there, helping them without a care. "Okay, get him in there." The Hunter ordered.
Almost as if sensing their presence, Sam turns sharply towards their spot behind the shed. Dean easily pulls Olive back by the collar of her jacket, causing her to let out a small yelp of surprise as he guided her back to the cars.
"Why are they doing that to the Vampire?" She asked lowly.
"I don't know." He clenched his jaw. "But we're gonna find out.
"Where were you?" Gwen huffs at them. Olive goes to speak but Samuel and his hunters were already making their way towards them, the Vampire nor the van anywhere in sight.
"Everything all right here?" He asked, his eyes locking on Dean.
Gwen seemed toward between telling the truth and sticking up for Dean, but when she notices Olive's pleading eyes the female hunter couldn't help but sigh. "Just, uh, chopped up a runner. No big deal. How'd it go?"
"Rough. But one Alpha down." He dismissed.
Olive scoffs at the blunt lie causing Dean to press the top of her head, "Where is it? I wanna pay my last respects." Dean suggests, almost challenging Samuel to lie again.
The old Hunter seemed unaware of it. "Well, bring marshmallows. Already on the pyre."
"I don't smell smoke." Olive crossed her arms.
Samuel chuckles, giving the child a once over before getting into the truck and slamming the door. Dean nods at Gwen before leading Olive towards the car, where Sam was already waiting.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
› NIGHT COMES QUICKER THAN THEY expect and Olive still hadn't slept since Castiel plucked her from the road. She sits dazed in the backseat, her mothers journal in her hands as she reads through the fighting techniques scribbled on the sides of the pages.
She blatantly avoided the pages about Sylas, thankful Toula had taken the library of marking down different genera and topics with highlighters and stick notes.
The woman was a kindergarden teacher in a past life. And the book that was once ancient and old was smoothed down and filled with the witch's personal touches and side notes for Olive to understand.
"Things go okay back there?" Dean speaks up after hours of driving. Olive looks up, closing her book.
"Fine." Sam responds.
"Nothing weird?" He pressed.
It seemed that Sam's lack of truth caused Dean to snap. He swerves the car onto the side of the rode, causing Olive to have a flash of trauma as she grabbed the sides of her backseat and panicked. Dean parks the car with a screech, stepping out and slamming the door behind him. Sam instantly follows, leaving Olive in the backseat.
"I saw you walk that Alpha out the door, Sam." He snaps. "Now, call me crazy, but that seems weird."
Sam takes a long pause, finding no reason to lie about it now. "Oh."
Olive takes a deep breath and slides out of the backseat of the car, pressed Goob to her chest as she stands between them, chin on her teddy bear as she looked between the brothers with a frown.
"Oh?" Dean repeats.
"You. .weren't supposed to know about that." Sam says bluntly.
"Know what?"
"It's just something Samuel's been doing." He shrugs. "Catching things, taking them somewhere and grilling them for info."
"Grill. Torture, right?" Dean corrects. Sam's hesitation was enough. "And not telling me, that was his idea?"
"No. It was mine."
Dean reels back, his eyes flashing with offense. "Why?"
"Honestly? Because you'd mess it up." Sam admits. Olive's eyes widen at this, looking towards Dean who seemed surprisingly unfazed at his brother's confession. "You shoot first, ask questions later. And we needed to ask questions."
Dean now turns away, speechless. He seemed torn over his brother, a man who Dean knew as caring and well put together, he didn't expect the tables to turn so fast. It made him upset just thinking about how careless Sam has gotten, his brother had no morals, no compassion.
He's turned into what Dean once was, just hundred times worse and it's a horrible feeling for Dean. Thinking that he failed his little brother in every way. What's worse is Sam labling him as the guy he was years ago.
Reckless and an asshole. He was still both, just not together and not in the way Sam chalks him up to be. Dean wanted more credit for the man he's learning to be, but he won't say that.
"You know, I-I don't care if you've got soullessness or the mumps, man, you know better than this! I mean, do you even want your soul back?" He questioned.
Sam avoids the questions. "How does that have anything to do with--"
"Have you even been to the place?" Dean drills. "I mean, have you been in on these interrogations?"
"No, but I hear--"
"And what does he want, and why? I mean, did it ever occur to you that this is really shady?"
"He's our grandfather." Sam weakly defends.
"Yeah. A guy who talks a great game. But you can't assume that family means the same thing to him as it does to us." Dean motions between the three of them. "He's not dad." Sam doesn't respond. Dean scoffs. "Wow. You don't see it do you?"
"What?"
"You've got no instinct. I mean, you are seriously messed up."
"Thanks." Sam deadpans.
"I'm not kidding, man." Dean shakes his head. "Nobody's forcing you to work with me. Okay? But if we do this, I drive the bus. I call the shots. And you tell me everything whether it's important or not because trust me you can't tell the difference and I'll be damned if you get my daughter killed in the process."
Sam turns to look at Olive. He wanted to scoff. She could be taken by the Angel Squad right now and he wouldn't bat an eye. It was horrible to say, but if Olive died because of him, he wouldn't be restless over it.
The old him would be disgusted with those thoughts.
Dean pauses, waiting for Sam to say something. "Or you know what?" He says after a moment. "Go. Go with Samuel. See how that goes. It's up to you."
Dean then walks back to the car, sliding into the front seat and slamming the door. Sam lets out a deep sigh.
Olive steps forward, giving him a small smile. "I really hope you stay, Sam." She says softly, turning on her heel and walking back towards the car knowing that he wouldn't reply.
Sam groans, he doesn't feel about about his previous thought, but she sure does make it hard to hate her. He settles on annoyance for now.
Sam had gone hours ago, and now they sat in the car waiting for his return.
"He'll be back, daddy." Olive says confidently, leaning over the bench seat. "Don't worry."
"Yeah." He sighs tiredly. "I hope you're right."
Olive fiddles with her fingers. It was now or never. "When Castiel came to pick me up. .I wasn't at home." She says carefully. "I was running away from Lisa's, that's why I had my backpack."
Dean turns around. "What?"
Olive frowns, "I ran away to come find you. I heard you guys talking. She said you'd get me killed, and to leave me there. But that's not true." She said softly, voice cracking. Her eyes filled with tears. "I could never hate you, never. She kept trying to tell me that it was time to move on and be normal but I can't. I didn't want to leave but she left me no choice, I wanted to be with you!"
Dean sighs. "Olly. ."
"Please don't take me back there." She pleads. "Not without you. It's not fair!"
"Olly." He said more firmly. She hiccups. "I am not leaving you. Okay? How many times do I have to tell you? You're stuck with me. Until the end. That's how it's always been."
"But we aren't the last ones anymore." She shakes her head. "It's not just me and you, it's Sam too, and Castiel."
He gives a small smile. "That doesn't change anything. When this is over, and Sam is back to normal and Cas isn't fighting wars, they'll be with us. It's not going to be functional but it's still going to be a family. We're all stuck with each other."
Olive sniffles. "I don't hate you." She repeats.
His smile turns sad. "I know that." He turns back to the front, his eyes drifting down. "I couldn't help but compare myself to my dad." He admits. "I thought I failed you, like he failed me and Sam. I thought that after all this time of trying not to be anything like him I did anyway. . .and when you took on that Vampire. .I really started to believe it."
Olive rests her head on the leather, pouting at his words. She hated John. All the stories Dean had of him were hardly good, and if she ever met him in person, he'd most likely scare the socks off her.
"I thought I turned you into the same thing he did to me when I was your age." Olive moves forward, throwing her arms around him. "I'm sorry, kid."
"No, I'm more sorry." She sniffles. "We both suck at family stuff."
Dean lets out a deep laugh. "You're right, we're horrible."
She pulls back. "But we always have each other. .and Sam. ."
"Sam sometimes." He agrees with a grin.
Sam appears beside the car, throwing the door open and glancing between them with wide eyes. "Did I miss something?"
Dean instantly wiped his eyes. "Hey." He said in surprise.
"You didn't think I'd come back." Sam states.
"I figured, sixty-forty." Dean shrugs.
"I had full confidence in you." Olive nods proudly.
Sam glaces back. "Thanks, kid." He then pulls out his computer. "So, Samuel didn't take the bait. So I went with Plan B."
"We had a plan B?" Dean questioned.
Olive scrunched her face. "We had a plan?"
"I fired up the GPS on one of his phones. Should be able to track him right to the Alpha." Sam explains.
"The old man won't notice?"
"Trust me. He thinks Velcro is big news." Sam scoffs.
Olive leans forward, absolutely excited. "I don't need Velcro anymore because I can tie my shoes now!" She looks at Sam, hoping for some type of approval form him.
He turns to her, humming. "Cool." He says genuinely before typing away on his computer.
Olive turns to Dean with wide eyes, which the Hunter mockingly returned. She leaned back in her seat with a satisfied smile.
"There, got him. Let's go."

› THE TRIO DROVE INTO AN OLD FACILITY. The rain wasn't heavy but the air was thick when they stepped out of the car. Olive zipped up her large utility jacket that Sam just seemed to notice was his. He leans forward and clips the bottom of the jacket, which Olive didn't notice was a feature.
He nods in approval before walking towards Samuel's truck. She follows after him with her chin held high, marching behind him.
"Dead man's blood." Sam runs his finger against the metal door before cleaning it on his jacket.
Dean jiggles the door. Locked. "Smart. Locked the place down with vamp repellent." He picks the lock easily, pushing it open and motioning for Sam to go first. "Stay close." He says to Olive, who nods and takes a step closer to Sam. "I meant to me." He rolls his eyes and grabs her sleeve, dragging her into the building.
They swept the area, weapons drawn. Olive takes instant notices of how cold it was in the building, "We should get hot coca later." She says simply.
"Oh yeah, then we can huddle together and tell bedtime stories." Sam replies sarcastically.
Olive beams. "Really?!"
"Shh!" Dean shushes both of them.
They round the corner just as Christian exits the main room. The boys instantly duck into the nearest room, Olive innocently stands in the hallway until Dean reaches over and yanks her in, helping her find a hiding spot before ducking under an abandoned desk.
Olive crouches behind a few boxes, her eyes widening towards Sam who motions for her to keep quiet.
Christian enters the room moments later, his eyes sweating the boxes and furniture before shrugging his shoulders and leaving, they all let out collective sighs of relief.
All at once, they try exiting the room causing them to tumble into each other. Dean closes his eyes to gather himself before pushing Sam forward.
"How this shapes up is entirely up to you." Samuel can be heard on the other side of the door.
Through the crack the Winchester's can see Samuel standing in front of a large cage, glaring at a man who seemed unfazed by the torture he was getting.
"Where is it? Answer the question. Where is it? How do we find it?"
When the Alpha didn't answer, Samuel electrocuted him. "Ouch. Stop. That hurts." He said monotonously. In annoyance, Samuel powers down the machine.
"Now, this. .this Club Med compared to what we have planned for you."
"Oh?"
"I've got all the time in the world." Samuel pressed.
"Well, that makes two of us."
Samuel stomped away out of the other door. The Alpha laughed at this. Dean motions for them to leave, it seemed that they had all the evidence they needed but they didn't get far before the Alpha spoke again.
"Are you two going to stand there all night? Come on out boys." The brothers mentally debated for a moment, and after a sigh Dean opens the door wider. The Vampire's eyes drop to Olive instantly, a smirk taking over his features. "Well, hello there. I certainly didn't sense you."
"Enough." Sam snaps.
The Alpha looks between the brothers. "How can I help you?"
"We got some questions for you, Skippy." Dean states. "Since you're going nowhere fast."
The Alpha laughs. "Don't be so sure."
"Yeah?" Dean looks at the bars. "You're locked down pretty tight. With all that dead blood rushing through your veins." He trails for effect. "Not sure you got enough juice to fire up that psychic Bat-signal of yours. Do you?"
"True. Not near enough juice for that, Dean." The Alpha admits. He smirks when the name drops sends the eldest hunter reeling.
"Didn't realize we were on a first-name basis."
"Of course we are. After all, you were my child for a time." He replies. "Dean, tell me, did you enjoy it?"
Dean stalks forward. "I'm asking the questions here, Fright Night." He turns on the electric shockers but the Alpha didn't react.
"When your kind first huddled around the fire I was the things in the dark." He snaps. "Now you think you can hurt me?" Dean powers the machine down. "I have all night, boys. You do not."
Olive panics, yanking Sam's sleeve in fright. Sam sighs, not bothering to taking the time to comfort her.
"Anyway, I'm happy to tell you whatever you want to know." The Alpha states.
"Why?"
"Why? Because soon I'll be ankle deep in your blood. . .sucking the marrow from your bones."
Olive reddens, her heart beating moving at a rapid speed. The Alpha seemed too confident for her not to panic.
"You really it?" Sam steps forward. "The first of your species."
"The very first."
"But if you're the first, who made you?" Sam pressed.
The Alpha was grinning now. "Well, we all have our mothers. Even me."
"What does that mean?" Dean ignores the Vampire's shameless laugh. "What's with the surge of vamps lately?"
"We're going to war."
"Why? What's going on? Why did Samuel bring you here?" Sam asked impatiently.
"Who are you going to war against?" Olive asked softly.
The Alpha looked down at her, grinning. "At least someone is asking the right questions." He then turns to Sam. "You smell cold. You have no soul, what an oddity. Do you feel how empty you are? What is it like having no soul?"
Sam clenched his jaw. "Answer our questions."
"You first."
"You're the one in the cage." Sam replies cockily.
"The thing about souls, if you've got one of course, is they're predictable." The Alpha continues. "You die, you go up, or down. Where do my kind go? Where does her kind go?" He motions towards Olive.
"All right. Enough with the sermon, freak." Dean snaps.
"I'm trying to answer your question. Now, when freaks die, where do we go?" He looks directly at Olive as if she would know. "Not heaven, not hell, so?"
"Legoland?" Dean answered.
"To a dark place?" Olive mumbles more to herself, "Trapped?"
He grins. "Maybe for you. Are we a little rusty on our Dante, boys?"
Sam shifts in realization. "Purgatory."
"Purgatory? Purgatory's real?"
"What's Purgatory?" Olive looks to Dean.
"Oh, stupid cattle." The Vampire laughs. "Of course. And it is filled with the souls of every hungry thing like me that ever walked this earth. Now, where is it? That is the mystery. And that is what your kind-hearted granddaddy is trying to beat out of me."
"Samuel brought you here to find out where Purgatory is?" Sam questions.
"He just said that." Olive comments.
"I keep telling me 'How would I know such a thing?' but he refuses to untie me."
"You know exactly where it is." Sam states. "Why exactly does Samuel care about any of this?"
"He doesn't care. He does as he is told."
The brothers glances at each other. "Well, if the old man's Kermit, whose hand's up his ass?"
At the sound of a gun cocking into place, the Winchester's turn towards the door to see Samuel and Christian, along with another Hunter. They didn't seem as friendly as Olive knew beforehand. "Evening, guys."
Olive had never been held at gunpoint before, but she tried not to seem as scared as she was on the inside.
Christian had no problems with pointing a gun at her. Olive stands in between Sam and Dean with her hands up, frowning at the pocket knife that was taken away from her and thrown into the pile.
"You know, I have seen some stupid in my time, just a few days ago Olive had her head in a lake, but you. ." Dean points at Samuel. "You take the crown. Putting jaws in a fishbowl? How you think that's gonna end? I don't know what kind of game you're running--"
"You think I'm going this for kicks?" Samuel scoffed.
"I think you got these feebs convinced you're John Wayne!" Dean bellows. "So whatever you're doing, whatever you're hiding. .it's gonna put you and everyone around you in the ground."
Samuel pounced forward and Dean pushes him back just as Sam presses Christian into the nearest wall. Dean freezes when the sound of another gun clicks, where Gwen stands a little away from them, holding up a shotgun.
"Hi." She greets.
"Gwen." Dean nods, dropping the gun. "And I thought we had something special."
She smiles mockingly.
Sam glances at Olive. "Olive. ." He gives her a look. Olive instantly raises her hands towards Gwen in a fighting stance, one leg prompted back while she kept both palms out in front of her.
Dean didn't even have to turn to his brother to know what he was thinking. "No. Olly." He says in warning. Olive sighs, dropping her hands.
A scream from the main room causes everyone to stop, the group all glancing at each other before Samuel sighs. "Pick up your stuff."
The hunter that was keeping his eyes on the Alpha was dead on the ground, the cage empty and the Vampire nowhere in sight. Paranoid, Olive rushes to Dean, who gives her hand a gentle squeeze.
"How much dead man's blood we got left?"
Christian holds up two syringes, causing everyone to feel worse then they already did.
"How long till the Alpha's one-hundred percent?"
"Hour, maybe less." Samuel replies. "We need to get him dosed up and back in the cage."
"No."
"What do you mean no?" Samuel steps towards Dean.
"It means, I don't know what you're playing but catch isn't on the table." He bellows. "We cut it's frigging head off or it kills us all. You know that." When no one objected, Dean nods. "Okay. We split up, clear every room. You get a shot, you take it. It's not gonna kill him but the dude will move a lot slower and if we make it through this, you, me and Sam are gonna have one hell of a family meeting." He glares at Samuel.
Without another word Dean walks out of the room with Olive trailing close behind him. "Dad?" She grips his hand, causing him to stop. "W-What if something bad happens?" She asked softly.
Dean's face softened. He kneels down, "If I had the option to have you wait in the car, I would."
Olive shakes her head. "I gotta be brave, just like you always are."
"Sometimes being brave is stupid." He admits.
"Guess I am a Winchester." She smiles.
Dean bumps her shoulder softly. "That's my girl."
